Toro i Senyera

The irony of this image won’t be lost on my Catalan friends:

Toro

That’s a wine produced in Catalunya, the ribbon is the Catalan flag and it’s holding… could it be?… yes, a bull, the symbol of Spain. Enough to drive any Catalan nationalist nuts and to make Catalans in general shake their heads… But that’s how Torres wines are sold in Canada…

Born and raised in Brazil, a Canadian stole my heart and took me to Canada in 1999. After seven years between Montreal and Toronto, we then moved to Barcelona, Spain, where I did research for my PhD thesis. This blog began as a chronicle of our adventures while living in Barcelona and exploring the old world and has acquired a life of its own after we moved back to Canada.

  2. Oh, that’s brilliant.
I say there’s a Castillian, very possibly a member of some old Salamanca family, in between Torres and the shelf of the store, lol – marketing man for the export co., import co., something—and he’s getting his “revenge”!!
